the police interviewer *should* stop you from saying things like
"i was told by my son that he was assaulted" or "my son told me
he went into anaphylactic shock" - because this is "hearsay" (a 3rd
party report) and they should get you to focus on what YOU saw
and what YOU heard.

you saw me crying: that is a fact that should be part of your statement.

you heard me choking and saw me staggering into the bathroom: that
is a fact that should be part of your statement.

you should NOT be asked for *NOR ATTEMPT TO GIVE* your OPINION,
especially not on the MEDICAL facts, as you are NOT medically trained
despite claiming (illegally) that you KNEW i had "psychiatric" problems.
(only a qualified psychiatrist may make such statements).

also get Paul to also make a statement.

NEITHER OF YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE MEDICAL FACTS.

if you can get a solicitor to attend the interview for the statements it
will go much better.

one of the issues i systematically had with the police is that the complete
lack of legal counsel and legal representation has meant that the police
have
catastrophically and repeatedlt failed in their duty to take the proper
action.

the Triage team kept MODIFYING the reports, filing them falsely
under the WRONG CRIME. i reported non-contact GBH: they MODIFIED it to
"Common Assault" and refused to change it to the correct crime.

even worse: the Officer In Charge was frequently catastrophically ignorant
of the Law on ABH and GBH.

legal counsel would have gotten them to properly listen and take the crimes
seriously, and bring them up short on the catastrophic failures of duty and
care.

and no: you can NOT get legal aid for PROSECUTION - only DEFENSE.
