Hi everyone,
I just wrote a quick draft of a new NLNet proposal for funding OpenCL
hardware support in the Libre RISC-V hybrid CPU/GPU. I realize there
will be stuff wrong inside of it so please fix anything you see and
let me know your feedback. I think Luke said the deadline was Oct 1,
so I apologize for doing this so close (I only started this idea a few
hours ago).
Also, I want to make it clear that I intended for this proposal to be
only for including hardware support for OpenCL, i.e. the software side
of OpenCL is not included in this proposal even though I mentioned it
in this proposal. The reason I thought it would be a good idea to have
two separate proposals for the hardware acceleration of OpenCL vs. the
software stack of OpenCL was because
(1) more funding this way, and
(2) I didn't want you guys to have too much on your plate for the
first iteration of Libre RISC-V
Although, if you wanted to, you could modify the proposal to do the
both at the same time, i.e. having the complete hardware-software
stack for OpenCL done.
I know I didn't really make this clear in the proposal though, but I'm
not sure how else to phrase it.
As always, you can just edit the document yourself without waiting for me.
Michael
