I guess you ran "./binutils-gdb-install" and/or "./ppc64-gdb-gcc", which 
do install the powerpc gcc without a trailing "8". They really are 
mentioned in the "devscript" page 
(https://libre-soc.org/HDL_workflow/devscripts/), but not on the ls2 
page (https://libre-soc.org/HDL_workflow/ls2/), so I didn't run them, on 
the new schroot I made from scratch.
