oh, i had previously posted the test results running pytest:
see bottom of comment #26:

and in comment #27 i said the test results had no new failures after
merging the rebased branch.

you could have also looked at CI.

took a while as i had to remote-ssh

iirc that option you removed doesn't assume latest and greatest software,
but merely assumes you have the version of pytest specified by the dev
scripts (pytest-xdist==3.3.1 pytest==7.3.1 pytest-subtests==0.11.0).

please add the option back, it improves scheduling so CI takes
substantially less time iirc.

freeze is lifted, write permissions restored.
