  Don't invest time on the old ioring. We must use the new alpha "block"
  approach for now on. I will take a look this evening. I will also
  slightly change the interface so you no longer need to give the
  "direction" signal. The direction will be guessed from the signal
  direction, then an approriate 0/1 signal will be generated "on the fly"
  and inserted in the core top-level netlist. To place the zero/one
  cells instances as close as possible to the I/O pad they are controlling,
  one signal will be generated per I/O pad.
