it's a total pain in the neck.

so 13 years ago i automated it via a wget cgi-bin script that creates an entire
new config on-demand on the server and allows a .tgz archive to be downloaded
which can be unpacked on the client.

it takes 30 seconds to join a new client and be up and running in 45 seconds.

don't waste precious time on it is what i am saying.
