That's awesome Luke. POWER is a great architecture. Maybe we should consider designing our own CPU with integrated GPU and VPU all from scratch with the best feature set ever designed? There may be interest in that from the people I am working with. Just a thought.

Cheers
Atif

That's awesome! I think a general purpose language with vector extensions would be very cool to run on such an architecture.

yeah absolutely. no only could the decoding of the function be accelerated, so could its display.

I am working with some very prominent people to make this all happen. An open source RISC-V graphics ISA is the first step :-)

well, unfortunately for the RISCV community because the RV Foundation has acted so irresponsibly and negligently there may be an EU anti trust investigation underway at some point, particularly as EU Horizon 2020 Grant money has been wasted by the RV Foundation systematically refusing to respond to our in good faith requests to be involved in innovation in a transparent fashion.

so we will press ahead with a POWER graphics ISA.

Hugh, the Director of OPF is looking for the right people for us to talk to so that we can do the first step of proposing a "namespace" extension opcode for POWER ISA.
