these are absolute minimum programs that use pretty much nothing by way of
communication with the outside world: an exception that sends a single
character for example.
even trying to do strcpy or memcpy is completely out of the question
because the infrastructure (ABIs) supporting the concept of "c function
calls" does not exist
it is... quite exciting.
