 ha!  that's actually known as an orchestral piece called "Audience
Participation".  i had friends at the Royal College of Music: they
actually attended performances of the piece :)

 couple decades ago i encountered a study of the effects of music on
mathematical ability.  it confirmed that music does interfere with
concentration.  however what was fascinating was that the study found
that if you listened to Mozart *BEFORE* tackling mathematical tasks,
ability was statistically significantly increased.  the worst effect
however was listening to "Pop Music" during tasks.

i don't normally listen to anything either.  just... felt like it :)
